Baseball Recap: Central Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ripon

There's no place like home for Central Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Ripon Indians on Friday as the Central Valley Hawks made off with a 12-2 victory. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 6-1 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Chris Garcia made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Edgar Peralta, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Whitworth, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Central Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ripon only posted an OBP of .286.

Central Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ripon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Central Valley has already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against Linden on the 24th. As for Ripon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-2 win against Beyer on the 26th.
