Softball Recap: Albuquerque Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Albuquerque extended their winning streak to seven on Saturday, bumping them up to 14-2. They blew past the Valley Vikings 15-5. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Raquel Waldrop made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Naiyoki Wright was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Emma Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Valley, they now have a losing record of 7-8. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with Albuquerque: they've now lost five in a row.

On Valley's side, Riley Michel was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Naliyah Mora, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Albuquerque will have a chance to go back-to-back against Valley: the pair will be back at it again later today.
