Recap: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder
The Fort Calhoun Pioneers came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder by a score of 57-46. Given Fort Calhoun's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Calhoun's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colby Bentley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Bentley's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Bouwman, who scored 20 points.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grayson Kraus, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds, and Kolton Kriete who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fort Calhoun pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Fort Calhoun is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Calhoun will face off against Wisner-Pilger at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wisner-Pilger is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, they will head out on the road to face off against Stanton on Saturday. Stanton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
