It was a good run, but the Second Baptist University-Model Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Memorial Lutheran 61-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

It was another big night for David Porter, who scored 35 points for Memorial Lutheran. Porter hasn't dropped below 15 points for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Smith, who scored 12 points.

Second Baptist University-Model's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Memorial Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Second Baptist University-Model will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Brazosport Christian is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Memorial Lutheran, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th.
