Clinton Prairie is a perfect 10-0 against Taylor since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Gophers will face off against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. Clinton Prairie will be strutting in after a win while Taylor will be coming in after a loss.
Clinton Prairie will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Delphi Community, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Gophers blew past the Oracles, posting a 38-0 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Gophers considering their six-point performance the game before.
Braiden Jarboe was his usual excellent self, rushing for 81 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made one tackle. Brady Allen was another key player, throwing for 89 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Clinton Prairie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kye Jacobs and Wyatt Harshbarger. Jacobs got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, while it was Taylor who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Sheridan who put up more. The Titans took a 22-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blackhawks. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Clinton Prairie will have to contain Javionne Harris as he made an impact in Taylor's last game. He rushed for 186 yards and one score while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 100 yards and one TD. Harris is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season.
Taylor's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Clinton Prairie, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Clinton Prairie has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Taylor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 240.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Clinton Prairie against Taylor when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gophers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
