Baseball Game Preview: Delphi Community Oracles vs. Marquette Catholic Blazers

The Delphi Community Oracles will face off against the Marquette Catholic Blazers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Delphi Community is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Delphi Community had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt South Newton on Friday. The Oracles were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Rebels. Considering the Oracles have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Brett Huffman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Delphi Community: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. Levi Coghill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Marquette Catholic came up short against Hebron on Wednesday, falling 17-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Blazers in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Delphi Community's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Marquette Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
