Football Recap: Hubbard Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Poland Seminary, Hubbard was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Struthers Wildcats as they made off with a 31-6 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Wildcats are ranked 422nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Braydon Songer, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 351 yards while completing 73.3% of his passes. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. 86 of Songer's passing yards were hauled in by Anthony Clark.

Hubbard's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.5 points on average over those games. As for Struthers, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Hubbard will welcome Howland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Struthers, they will venture away from home to face off against Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
