Preview: Hillcrest Jaguars vs. Andalusia Bulldogs
After four games on the road, Hillcrest is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Andalusia Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Andalusia likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Hillcrest was able to grind out a solid win over Monroe County, taking the game 64-52. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Monroe County is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Robert Simpson, who shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The match was his 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jermonte Stallworth , who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Andalusia's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Enterprise 65-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hillcrest's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for Andalusia, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
Hillcrest was able to grind out a solid win over Andalusia in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 68-55. Does Hillcrest have another victory up their sleeve, or will Andalusia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
