Basketball Game Preview: Mathews Blue Devils vs. West Point Pointers

Mathews hasn't had much luck against West Point recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Mathews Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the West Point Pointers at 7:00 p.m. Mathews will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Mathews will bounce into Friday's contest after beating King William, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Mathews came out on top against King William by a score of 38-29 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, West Point lost 59-37 to Gloucester on Monday. The Pointers have struggled against the Dukes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Mathews' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.0 points over those games. As for West Point, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Mathews ended up a good deal behind West Point when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 41-26. Can Mathews avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
