Softball Recap: Hood River Valley Eagles vs. Canby Cougars
Hood River Valley dropped their record down to 14-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Canby Cougars by a score of 3-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Wednesday.
As for Canby, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs.
For Canby's part, the result came thanks to Alli Hayzlett's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 18 Ks. Hayzlett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
