Basketball Recap: East Central Comes Up Short

East Central lost against Bishop Kelley back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Central Cardinals lost to the Bishop Kelley Comets at home by a 66-50 margin. The Cardinals just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Anne Blankenship was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 steals for Bishop Kelley. Blankenship has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 34 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Grisaffe, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals.

East Central's record is now 2-9. As for Bishop Kelley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

East Central has already played their next contest, a 46-19 loss against Shawnee on the 18th. As for Bishop Kelley, they will head out to square off against Claremore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Kelley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
