Recap: Wellington Wolverines vs. Park Vista Cobras
The Wellington Wolverines suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 43-23 defeat at the hands of Park Vista. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wellington has suffered against Park Vista since January 8, 2020.
Wellington's loss came despite strong showings from Madison Smith and Jazmin Jezewski. Smith scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Jezewski scored three points along with ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jezewski pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Park Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saniya Frazier, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Frazier is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Giulliana Mendonca, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Wellington has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Park Vista, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Wellington won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against American Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. American Heritage is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Park Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boynton Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
