Softball Recap: Hollywood Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Hollywood and Bernstein, and Bernstein kept the tradition alive. The Sheiks fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 17-16 on Thursday. The Sheiks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dragons earlier this season, when they won 14-13.

Eleiyah Layton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one triple. Another player making a difference was Iralyn Ortiz, who got four hits from her six at bats.

Hollywood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bernstein, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-6.

Hollywood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-13 victory against Discovery on the 11th. As for Bernstein, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Contreras at 3:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
