Baseball Recap: Madison Extends Winning Streak to Three

Madison came out on top against Boothbay on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Seahawks. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jonathan Prosser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Xavier Estes and Griffin Dickey did most of the damage at the plate: Estes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Dickey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Dickey has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaeson Almeida, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

The victory (which was Madison's third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Boothbay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Madison has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Dirigo on the 20th. As for Boothbay, they will challenge Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Roadrunners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Seahawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
