Baseball Game Preview: West Sabine Tigers vs. Groveton Indians

The West Sabine Tigers will challenge the Groveton Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, West Sabine didn't have quite enough to beat Corrigan-Camden and fell 12-11.

Kade Myrann made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Peyton Bourque, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Groveton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Indians have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

TY TORREGROSA was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, JAKE PLOTTS and DAX PARKER did most of the damage at the plate: PLOTTS went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while PARKER went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave PLOTTS a new career-high. CADE WHITE was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

West Sabine's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-9. As for Groveton, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
