Soccer Game Preview: Amherst County vs. Jefferson Forest

Amherst County hasn't had much luck against Jefferson Forest recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lancers will welcome the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Amherst County's offense. They fell just short of Brookville by a score of 1-0 last Tuesday. Amherst County have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson Forest on the other hand, have had a phenomenal season so far and haven't lost a game yet. Their defense stepped up to hand Brookville a 3-0 shutout last Friday. The result was nothing new for Jefferson Forest, who have now won three games by three goals or more so far this season.

Jefferson Forest pushed their record up to 5-0-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three contests. As for Amherst County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4-1.

Amherst County came up short against Jefferson Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
