Softball Recap: Hackberry Mustangs vs. Johnson Bayou Rebels
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hackberry). They put the hurt on the Johnson Bayou Rebels with a sharp 23-8 victory on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Mary Savoie was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kynlin Moore and Aubre Mire did most of the damage at the plate: Moore scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Mire scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Mire continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Brown, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Hackberry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .964. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
