Softball Recap: El Capitan Takes a Loss

El Capitan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Buhach Colony Thunder, falling 20-4. The Gauchos were not able to make up for their loss to the Thunder from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Emma Derichsweiler and Teagan Duyette did some serious damage despite the final result: Derichsweiler went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Duyette scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That hit was Derichsweiler's first of the season. Molly Akers was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Buhach Colony, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Capitan will face off against Golden Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Capitan has given up an average of 17.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Buhach Colony, they will square off against Los Banos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buhach Colony is facing Los Banos at the right time seeing as Los Banos is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
