Soccer Game Preview: Morro Bay vs. Mendota

The Morro Bay Pirates will face off against the Mendota Aztecs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Morro Bay's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Morro Bay turned things around against Liberty on Saturday. Both finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Pirates' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Mendota entered their match against Sunnyside last Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Mendota fell just short of Sunnyside by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, the Aztecs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Morro Bay's draw makes their record 1-6-1 this season. As for Mendota, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3-2.

Morro Bay suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Mendota when the teams last played back in November of 2021. Can Morro Bay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
