Baseball Game Preview: Leland Cubs vs. Edwards Tigers

The Leland Cubs will challenge the Edwards Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leland knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Edwards likes a good challenge.

Leland is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Shaw just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 13-10 to the Warriors.

Kevandre Rawls made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Sylvester Ross was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Edwards fell victim to Winona and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 19-0 to Winona. Edwards has struggled against Winona recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Leland's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Edwards, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
