Recap: Lawrence County Cougars vs. Columbia Wildcats
It was a good run, but the Lawrence County Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to Columbia. Lawrence County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Columbia apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Jakira Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Columbia, scoring 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Columbia's points.
Lawrence County's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Columbia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Forrest County Agricultural the next time they take the court. Columbia will head out to face Forrest County Agricultural at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lawrence County will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
