Softball Recap: Golden West's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

El Diamante hit Golden West with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trailblazers fell just short of the Miners by a score of 5-4. The Trailblazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Khianna Hardwick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Golden West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aniyah Venegas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Golden West's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8-1. As for El Diamante, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10-1.

Coming up, Golden West will head out on the road to challenge Mt. Whitney at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Diamante, they will be playing at home against Monache at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Marauders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight.
