Basketball Game Preview: Panther Valley Panthers vs. North Schuylkill Spartans

Panther Valley hasn't had much luck against North Schuylkill recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panther Valley Panthers will head out to challenge the North Schuylkill Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Panther Valley is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Nativity BVM: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Panther Valley blew Nativity BVM out of the water with a 52-10 final score. With the Panthers ahead 38-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Panther Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lucy Kocha, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 16 points, and Morgan Orsulak, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points along with five boards and four steals. Those 16 points gave Kocha a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Vermillion, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for North Schuylkill on Friday. They strolled past Tamaqua with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. North Schuylkill's victory was all the more impressive since the Blue Raiders were averaging only 29 points allowed on the season.

North Schuylkill is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Panther Valley, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Panther Valley took a serious blow against North Schuylkill in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 61-34. Can Panther Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
