Basketball Game Preview: Poth Pirates vs. Nixon-Smiley Mustangs

The Poth Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Poth was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Luling.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley took a blow against Karnes City on Friday, falling 68-39. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Poth's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-11. As for Nixon-Smiley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Poth beat Nixon-Smiley 55-47 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poth since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
