Football Game Preview: Clinton Comets vs. Thousand Islands Vikings

Clinton is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Saturday. They will welcome the Thousand Islands Vikings at 2:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Clinton's offense might be in the hot seat on Saturday considering what happened against West Canada Valley last Thursday. They took a blow against the Nighthawks, falling 48-0. The Comets haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Thousand Islands came up short against New York Mills last Thursday, falling 54-28. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Marauders 12-8 in the first quarter.

Clinton will need to focus on slowing down Thomas Bernhardt, one of several Thousand Islands players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 175 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 100 yards. Thousand Islands' leading receiver Jacob Coyne was Bernhardt's top target yet again, picking up 35 receiving yards, while also rushing for 65 yards and one score.

Thousand Islands' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Clinton, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
