Baseball Recap: Greenwood Mennonite Takes a Loss

If Greenwood Mennonite was feeling good fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Chestertown Christian Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Flames fell just short of the Holly Grove Christian Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Flames were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Greenwood Mennonite saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremy Tennefoss, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Tennefoss is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Greenwood Mennonite moved to 4-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Holly Grove Christian, their record now sits at 3-4.

Looking ahead, Greenwood Mennonite will challenge Chestertown Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holly Grove Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Chincoteague at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
