Softball Preview: Lincoln Fighting Zebras vs. Colfax Falcons

Lincoln has gone 7-1 against Colfax recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lincoln Fighting Zebras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Colfax Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Colfax took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 11 losses in a row dating back to last season, Lincoln turned things around against Marysville on Thursday. They blew past the Indians 13-7. The Fighting Zebras' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ava Ornelas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Brooklyn Guadarrama was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Mosby-Rossi, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Colfax started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Bear River. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Lila Hamasaki was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kalli Amaral, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Colfax's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lincoln, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
