Recap: Poyen Indians vs. Mineral Springs Hornets
It was a good run, but The Poyen Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Mineral Springs 58-22. Poyen lost against Mineral Springs in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 50-6 score last time.
Poyen's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Colt Barrett, who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Brayden Hull, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Poyen's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Mineral Springs, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poyen will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Conway Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. As for Mineral Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Murfreesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Murfreesboro will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
