Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

The St. Augustine Saints earned a 5-1 win over the Coronado Islanders on Wednesday.

Ryan Popkins led a balanced Saints bullpen and pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Popkins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Drake Konja was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Raphael Dunne, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

St. Augustine has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 20-8 record.

As of now, neither St. Augustine nor the Islanders have any future games scheduled.
