Volleyball Game Preview: Swain County Maroon Devils vs. Hayesville Yellowjackets

Swain County is 2-8 against Hayesville since August 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Maroon Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Swain County got the win against Highlands by a conclusive 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Maroon Devils.

Swain County not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Highlands between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hayesville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Murphy on Tuesday.

Hayesville was especially dominant in the first set. The final set scores came out to 25-14, 15-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Swain County's record is currently 5-8. As for Hayesville, they have now won eight of their last nine games at home. That gives them a 6-4 record this season.

Swain County came up short against Hayesville in their most recent meeting on August 25th, falling 3-1. Can the Maroon Devils avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
