Basketball Recap: Ossining's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Ossining entered their game against Mamaroneck on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Ossining Pride took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mamaroneck Tigers. The Pride were probably out for revenge after losing 57-54 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ossining lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sophia Torrieri, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja Myra Thomas, who put up 15 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Ossining smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Ossining's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4. As for Mamaroneck, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ossining will welcome Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ossining is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.4 points per game this season. As for Mamaroneck, they will take on Pelham Memorial in a tournament on Saturday.
