Softball Recap: Oakman Comes Up Short

Oakman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Oak Grove Tigers, falling 14-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 9-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Lizzy Cagle and Ciara Stanton did some serious damage despite the final result: Cagle scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Stanton scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Stanton posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last eight matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrie Franks, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 7-9. As for Oak Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Coming up, Oakman will head out on the road to challenge Carbon Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Grove, they will host Leeds at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leeds knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Oak Grove likes a good challenge.
