Softball Game Preview: Sioux Valley Cossacks vs. Beresford Watchdogs

The Sioux Valley Cossacks will head out to square off against the Beresford Watchdogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Beresford will be up against a hot Sioux Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. The Cossacks put the hurt on Colman-Egan with a sharp 21-4 win on Wednesday.

Sioux Valley got a massive performance out of Savana Guthmiller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Guthmiller has posted since back in May of 2024. Amelia Jacobson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBI.

Sioux Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Beresford got the win against Avon on Saturday by a conclusive 15-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Watchdogs.

Beresford's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sioux Valley, their record now sits at 13-6.

Sioux Valley couldn't quite get it done against Beresford in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 3-0. Can the Cossacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
