Softball Recap: 25 Straight Home Victories for Uxbridge

Uxbridge never let their opponents score on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Abington Green Wave 1-0. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Abington's batters probably weren't too happy with Erin O'Day, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 20 Ks (she gave up two walks). O'Day has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Uxbridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriela Belanger, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Uxbridge's victory was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Abington, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.

Uxbridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Green Wave: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
