Soccer Game Preview: Catskill vs. Taconic Hills

The Catskill Cats will head out to square off against the Taconic Hills Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Catskill's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Catskill lost 9-1 to Greenville on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Catskill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Greenville are ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Taconic Hills made sure to put some goals up on the board against Germantown on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Clippers. Considering Taconic Hills' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The victory made it two in a row for Taconic Hills and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two contests. As for Catskill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Catskill took their victory against Taconic Hills when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cats since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
