Basketball Game Preview: Wootton Patriots vs. Rockville Rams

Wootton has gone 8-2 against Rockville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. Wootton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.

Wootton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Northwood 79-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Wootton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Mitchell led the charge by going 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Mitchell's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Waldron, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Mitchell wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Wootton was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Rockville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 93-34 loss at the hands of Blake.

The win got Wootton back to even at 2-2. As for Rockville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Wootton took their victory against Rockville when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 71-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wootton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
