North Edgecombe skates past Wilson Prep with ease

Recap: North Edgecombe Warriors vs. Wilson Prep Tigers

The North Edgecombe Warriors won the last time they faced the Wilson Prep Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. North Edgecombe claimed a resounding 61-33 victory over Wilson Prep on the road. Given North Edgecombe's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Wilson Prep is ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Edgecombe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Le'Lah Jenkins, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jenkins has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ke'Ziyah Pittman, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Despite the defeat, Wilson Prep saw an underclassman step up: Nakiya Boston scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Boston's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Braswell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

North Edgecombe now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Wilson Prep, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Edgecombe will take on Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilson Prep, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Rocky Mount Prep at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Allowing an average of 51 points per game, Rocky Mount Prep has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this match.
