Baseball Game Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

For the second straight game, Arapahoe will face off against Eaglecrest. The Warriors will take on the Raptors at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Arapahoe has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eaglecrest hit Arapahoe with a six-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Raptors, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Eaglecrest's part, Brian Moreland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Moreland has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liam Sutton was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Eaglecrest's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-12 when he doesn't). Blake Anderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Eaglecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Eaglecrest's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-12. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Arapahoe, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
