Bellevue East couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Fremont Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chieftains of the 42-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2020.

Steven Procko threw for 31 yards and a touchdown. Owen Grieb was his top target, picking up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Dominic Smith rushed for 59 yards.

DaVarius Bell was nothing short of spectacular for Fremont: he rushed for 38 yards and three touchdowns.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellevue East will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Bellevue West at 7:00 p.m. on September 12th. As for Fremont, they will square off against Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
