Basketball Game Preview: East Clinton Astros vs. Williamsburg Wildcats

The East Clinton Astros will head out to challenge the Williamsburg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Clinton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Williamsburg will come in with three straight victories.

East Clinton is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Madeira on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. East Clinton was dealt a 71-35 loss at the hands of Madeira. While losing is never fun, the Astros can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 835th, while the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS are ranked 276th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Williamsburg challenged New Richmond on Tuesday. Williamsburg secured a 51-46 W over New Richmond.

Williamsburg has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for East Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

East Clinton was taken down by Williamsburg 72-42 in their previous meeting back in January. Can East Clinton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
