Softball Recap: Lyons' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Lyons strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against the Sodus Spartans as they made off with an 18-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Rylee Richardson and Keira Weber were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Richardson pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Weber tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Richardson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Richardson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Weber went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Lydia Briggs was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Wilkinson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Lyons' victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Sodus, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyons will venture away from home to face off against Marion at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sodus, they will head out to square off against Whitman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
