Basketball Recap: Ethan Shigamora's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wilson over West Covina

Wilson lost against West Covina back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wilson Wildcats fell to the West Covina Bulldogs 43-39.

Wilson lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ethan Shigamora, who posted eight points and three steals. Shigamora is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Josiah Lewis was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

West Covina's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jesus Leano led the charge by earning ten points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Julio, who scored 15 points.

Wilson's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-11. As for West Covina, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Wilson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-46 win against Northview on the 16th. West Covina has also already played their next match, a 58-37 defeat against Rowland on the 16th.
