Baseball Recap: Standing Bear Find Success

Standing Bear's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Bellevue East Chieftains. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Grizzlies also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Mason Hiatt looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gavin Bullock and Braxton Senters did most of the damage at the plate: Bullock went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Senters went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave Senters a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Froeschl, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Standing Bear's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Bellevue East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Standing Bear will be playing in front of their home fans against Blair at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Bellevue East, they will take on Ralston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chieftains' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
