Brown County is 0-8 against Sullivan since May of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Arrows at 6:00 p.m.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Brown County's offense. They lost 10-0 to South Decatur on Thursday.
Brown County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Remington Gentry, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sullivan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past South Putnam 8-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Golden Arrows have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ty Hamilton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Paul Ridgeway and Hunter Mason did most of the damage at the plate: Ridgeway got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Mason went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Ridgeway a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AdAm Mckinley, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Sullivan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Putnam struck out 11 times.
Sullivan pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brown County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brown County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sullivan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brown County couldn't quite finish off Sullivan in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 4-2. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
