After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hickory, Alexander Central was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Ashe County Huskies 34-7. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jaquis Parks and Sawyer Chapman-Mays. Parks rushed for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries while Chapman-Mays rushed for 179 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Parks really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run.

Alexander Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 374 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Alexander Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Ashe County, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Alexander Central is taking a road trip to challenge Statesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashe County, they will welcome Johnson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
