Soccer Game Preview: Delone Catholic vs. William Penn

Delone Catholic and William Penn are an even 3-3-3 against one another since September of 2017, but likely not for long. The Squires will challenge the Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delone Catholic has given up an average of 2.7 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Delone Catholic is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against York Catholic on Thursday. They lost 6-1 to the Fighting Irish. Delone Catholic haven't had much luck with York Catholic recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when William Penn took on Central Dauphin East on Monday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-2. The high-scoring effort was just what William Penn needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

William Penn's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Delone Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Delone Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against William Penn in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Squires since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
