Softball Recap: Cherokee's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Cherokee's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Gloucester City Lions by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Chiefs have suffered since April 29, 2024.

Cali Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kasey McNee was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Cherokee's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Gloucester City, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Coming up, Cherokee will take on Rancocas Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gloucester City, they will host Kingsway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
