Broomfield is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out to face off against the Fairview Knights at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
If Broomfield beats Fairview with eight runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Broomfield was the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Douglas County on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Ethan Zufall tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Williamson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brendan Fritch was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Broomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas County only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Loveland on Saturday as Fairview made off with a 12-2 victory.
Jacob Jaramillo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Jackson Wier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in triples. Another player making a difference was Leo Muth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Broomfield's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Fairview, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Broomfield was able to grind out a solid win over Fairview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Will Broomfield repeat their success, or does Fairview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
