Flat Rock has gone 9-1 against Jefferson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rams will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Flat Rock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Flat Rock and Bedford, and Flat Rock kept the tradition alive. The Rams came out on top against the Kicking Mules by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday.
Emma Neace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Sarah Giroux and Faith Soden did most of the damage at the plate: Giroux went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Soden went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs Soden has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaclynn Motyka, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Flat Rock lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson played in-conference for the first time on Wednesday and got just the result they were looking for. Everything went their way against Grosse Ile as they made off with a 15-5 win. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jefferson let Madison Duvall and Bella Treaster run wild. Duvall got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, while Treaster went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kenzie Knox was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Flat Rock's record now sits at 12-10-1. As for Jefferson, their record is now 6-14.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Flat Rock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Flat Rock's hitters?
Flat Rock beat Jefferson 7-2 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
