Basketball Recap: Montgomery Find Success

Montgomery won the last time they faced St. Mary, and Latney Laysone did his part to make sure it happened again. The Montgomery Tigers breezed by the St. Mary Tigers to the tune of 65-30 on Tuesday thanks in part to Laysone, who went 12 of 23 on his way to 28 points. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Jacorian Shepherd was another key player, putting up 17 assists and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 15 games he's played.

Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for St. Mary, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Montgomery will square off against Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Montgomery is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for St. Mary, they will be playing in front of their home fans against LaSalle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
